The BJP-led Indian government’s claims of restoring normalcy in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir post-2019 have been debunked by grim human rights statistics, exposing the territory’s harsh realities under occupation.
A report by Kashmir Media Service reveals a disturbing surge in violence and repression since the revocation of Article 370.
It highlights the killing of 955 Kashmiris, including 18 women and 31 teenagers, with 251 deaths resulting from fake encounters and custodial killings.
Meanwhile, Indian troops have launched extensive cordon and search operations at nearly two dozen locations across Jammu region.
In a related development, India’s National Investigation Agency, along with paramilitary and police personnel, have raided homes of pro-freedom activists, ransacking properties and confiscating personal documents, including mobile phones.
On the other hand, jailed APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt in a message from New Delhi's infamous Tihar Jail expressed concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in Kashmir.
He stressed the urgent need for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
The APHC chairman urged the global community to hold India accountable for its oppressive tactics and support Kashmiris' legitimate demand for self-determination.
