Romina calls for introducing disaster insurance plans

Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has called for introducing disaster insurance plans for vulnerable communities as it is crucial for resilience building.

She was speaking at an event 'Pakistan and the Global Shield' in Baku on the sidelines of COP29 global climate summit today.

The PM aide said Pakistan launched efforts to integrate disaster risk financing into its broader loss and damage efforts.

She termed integration of disaster risk financing as a crucial step towards building resilience, ensuring timely response and supporting long-term recovery. 

Romina Khurshid Alam said governments and global partners can mitigate climate risks, support recovery and foster resilience by combining innovative financial tools with inclusive and data-driven strategies.
