World Autism Awareness Day being observed today
April 02, 2025

World Autism Awareness Day is being observed on Wednesday.

The day was designated by the United Nations General Assembly on 2nd April in 2007.

This year, the theme of the day is 'Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals'.

The day aims to promote the full realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms for autistic individuals, ensuring their equal participation in society.

In her message on the day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed her commitment to education, training, and rehabilitation of children with autism.

She said the government is actively working on employment programs for special individuals and introducing the Rising Star Card for special children.

She said Pakistan’s first government autism school in Lahore is nearing completion, which will offer early autism diagnosis facilities.
