Fifth death anniversary of Famous female Pashto singer and drama artist Mahjabeen Qazalbash was observed on Wednesday.

She was born in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1958. Her real name was Surraya Begum. Her father was of Turko-Persian Qazalbash. She started singing at the age of thirteen she also worked in Pashto plays, but focused on her singing. She also sang in other languages including Urdu, Punjabi, Hindko, Sindhi, Saraiki, Persian and Turkish.

She died on this day in 2020 in Peshawar. She left behind two sons and a daughter. 

She earned the title of Bulbul-i-Sarhad for her melodious voice. She received numerous awards, including President’s Pride of Performance.
