PM's University Sports Olympiad kicks off in Islamabad

Prime Minister's University Sports Olympiad officially kicked off at the Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Board in Islamabad today [Wednesday].

Athletes and sports enthusiasts from across the country, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, are participating in the event with great passion and enthusiasm.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s correspondents Shehzad Ghauri and Ahsan Amjad at the Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad, Atif Rehman, a judo athlete from Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, emphasized that such events are extremely valuable for youth development.

Alyan, a volleyball player from Ghizer, Gilgit-Baltistan, described the Olympiad as a fantastic opportunity for athletes from remote areas to showcase their talent.

Fizza, a handball player from Quetta, expressed her excitement at the chance to compete in this major sports event.

Afifa Qazi, an athlete from the Institute of Business Administration, Sukkur, appealed to the government to consider organizing the Prime Minister's University Sports Olympiad at the regional level, which would provide emerging athletes with a platform to progress to international competitions.

Samra Bashir, a juvenile throw athlete from the University of Faisalabad, said that events like these are a blessing for young and promising athletes, offering them invaluable exposure and opportunities.
