Shaheen Akhtar (Social Worker): The government has taken numerous good initiatives to empower women. Currently Pakistani women are facing challenge of unavailability of equal opportunities as compared to male folk. As social worker, we are trying to provide women with equal opportunities in the male dominant society. We see many girls facing hardships in getting their education completed or searching for jobs. In this respect we, in collaboration with the government agencies, try to mitigate the problems of women. I hail the government’s good initiative of establishing a Working Women Endowment Fund. Moreover, women also enjoy female specific seats in transport system in Islamabad. I have never faced any kind of harassment from my male colleagues despite being in the field for last over 15 years.
